Roller burnished surfaces are characterized by the following properties:

• ow surface roughness, up to Rz < 1 µm
• high contact area ratio due to formation of plateaus
• no protruding material peaks, therefore extremely low abrasiveness
• very low depth of surface smoothness Rz
• high contact area ratio
• clear material compression and surface hardness, therefore increased resistance to wear and reduced tendency to crack
• low susceptibility to corrosion

The surfaces are suitable for use as sliding surfaces, sealing surfaces and joining surfaces.
