What speed, what feed rate should be set?

Tip
When setting up a tool, the speed can be considerably reduced, however the feed rate per rotation is not to be decreased. Even when conducting roller burnishing under unfavorable conditions, e.g. when using high-strength materials, with insufficient lubrication or very deep holes, it is advisable to reduce the speed.| 1 | Mount |

Setting up, changing components of IRG-6-S
Adjusting the toolLoosen clamping screw (8), then turn the mount and sleeve against each other according to scale. 1 mark is equivalent to 0.01 mm in the diameter. Retighten clamping screw (8).
Tip for adjusting the tool
- When setting up a tool, the speed can be considerably reduced, however the feed rate per rotation is not to be decreased. Even when conducting roller burnishing under unfavorable conditions, e.g. when using high-strength materials, with insufficient lubrication or very deep holes, it is advisable to reduce the speed.
- To carry out a fast basic adjustment of the tool, it is advisable to adjust the tool to the smallest dimension and then to guide it into the pre-machined hole by hand. The tool can then be fed in in the hole until the rollers are felt to make contact. Starting from this dimension, 2-3 marks can still be fed in as the pretension. This basic adjustment then only requires minor corrections necessary in dependence on the roller burnishing results achieved.
Changing components
Rollers
Remove retaining screw (7) and locking ring (9), then take out the cage with the taper toward the front; separate the cage and taper. Replace the rollers in sets and remount the components.
Taper
Remove retaining screw (7) and locking ring (9), then take out the cage with the taper toward the front; separate the cage and taper.

Remove retaining screw (7) and locking ring (9), then take out the cage with the taper toward the front; separate the cage and taper. Replace the cage and remount the components.
Rollers
Remove retaining screw (7) and locking ring (9), then take out the cage with the taper toward the front; separate the cage and taper. Replace the rollers in sets and remount the components.

Tip
Coat the roller seats with some grease so that the rollers are held in place by the grease during rolling.

When replacing the rollers, clean the cage and check it for damage, e.g. run-in marks, rough spots etc.; replace components if necessary. Worn cages or tapers can considerably reduce the service life of the rollers.
